First, I thank God for you visiting and spending time with me today. I hope that you are well.
Recently, I took a break to watch and listen to the birds. They dug into the earth, chirped thankfully, then moved forward cheerfully to their next intake.
Think for a moment on how God “feeds the birds.” Birds scoop down, start seeking and thankfully receive what is waiting for them. No worries...
Like the birds, you and I do not have to worry. We are to search the Word of God for guidance. When we cheerfully do what God reveals, He provides for our needs.
All we have to do is seek God first, in His Word and in prayer (Matthew 6:33-34). We can thankfully feast on The Word of God as we digest it into our souls - it is our daily bread.
After we receive the spiritual nourishment we need, we can obediently use what we learned in our individual situations.
An attitude of thanks to God and those whom He uses to help us, determines our altitude in life.
Yes, you got it! Today, we are going to talk about being thankful.
When you and I are mindful of the favors and kindness that God bestows to us, we have heartfelt thanks.
There are tons of reasons and ways to give thanks. But, today, we will briefly discuss the below six reasons to give THANKS:
T: Thanks is the key to starting a new day. Each morning we are to enter into communication with God and give Him thanks for waking us (Psalm 118:1, 24). Thank God for His gift of life through His Only Begotten Son (John 3:16-17). Thankful that Jesus Christ laid down His life for us (John 15:13-14), for forgiveness of our sins (1 John 1:8-10).
H: His Hand. God holds all power in His Hand for our situations. God have all ability (according to His Will), to heal hurts, save souls, revive hearts, and help us with all challenges (1 Chronicles 29:11-13). Thank God daily for Christ Jesus our intercessor “at the right hand of God,” (Romans 8:34).
A: Acknowledge God daily in all our ways (Proverbs 3:6). All things that are good come from God (James 1:17). An attitude of thankfulness tells God that we appreciate His acts on our behalf. Attitude of giving thanks determines our rewards - spiritual, physical, financial, emotional and eternal.
N: Nails made of iron about five to seven inches long pierced the Hands and Feet of Jesus Christ. As Christians, we give thanks for the liberty we have in Him.
All of our sins, past, present and future were nailed (slain) at Golgotha to the cross. It was there that Jesus Christ suffered and died to free us from our sins and the full wrath of God (Mark 15:20-25; John 20:24-25).
K: Kindness is an attribute of God (Titus 3:3-8). When we are kind to one another, we show the love of God flowing in and out of us. Kindness is a trait of a heart filled with thanks to God to those who help us with kind deeds and words (Ephesians 4:32).
S: Salvation is a grace gift from God. Sin separates us from God. Everyone is a sinner and in need of a Savior. Thanks be to God for our salvation through Jesus Christ wherein we receive rescue from our sins and eternal death (Romans 5:6-11; 10:8-13).
We achieve salvation through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives (Ephesians 1:3-7). God adopts us as His children.
A grateful heart spreads love and gives of self as thanks without expectation of reward.
Love of God in our hearts motivates us to express heartfelt thanks. As followers of Christ Jesus, you and I thank God for everything He does and allows, even when we don't understand.
Let us encourage each other to give thanks to God for the people He places in our paths. Moreover, we thank those individuals for the help that God allows each to do for us.
An attitude of thankfulness gives us a different view of life and its events. We are to be mindful to approach individuals and situations with thanks. We never know all that God is doing in each event - for all parties.
Now we thank God, for He is able to do beyond what you and I can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
I encourage you to continue to sit at your daily spiritual table with God. Thank God in advance for His provision. Then, watch God supply your needs (just as He does for the birds).
I thank God for your visit. And, I thank God, for His Day - today, for His mercies and grace unto you and me. Let us motivate one another to keep giving thanks first to God, in all things.
I am so thankful for this opportunity to dialogue with you in love of God.
